Farming in an MMORPG is nothing new, especially one like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. But with the release of Heavensward, there’s a possibility that it might put a bit of a wrench in the game’s Gil farming techniques. Farming is an often-used term that means to stockpile several resources that can either be used later or sold on the marketplace for in-game money, such as FFXiV Currency. Basic Ways of Farming Gil
Dungeons, quests, the challenge log, and Allegan pieces from quest rewards that can be sold for a high price from quest rewards are all viable means of farming Gil. The main story scenario should easily land you about 300,000 Gil or more at level 50—and even more additional Gil beyond even there as you progress.
Going to dungeons and cashing in on the treasure chests is another way of earning a bunch of Gil. Along with forming a party, it can be a great solution to going headlong into otherwise difficult dungeons filled with intense boss fights. In general, anything you do in the game will earn you Gil, but most of the activities in Heavensward are not very profitable to just grind on. And for that, you’ll need to learn much about how to effectively sell items to other players.
Work as a Team
Believe it or not, working within a team can actually earn you Gils. Doing end-game dungeons is a great way to stay in shape and keep the cash flowing. Not only do bosses generate a high Gil drop when defeated, but a lot of the items are also good on the market. Also, it’s important to keep a clean inventory before you enter a dungeon to avoid potentially leaving loot behind since practically anything can be sold for considerable Gil value.
The Painful Truth: Farming Takes Time
It’s hard to accept it, but there’s nothing (without cheating of course) in the world that you can get which does not take time. This includes Gil farming. However, farming Gil can be done efficiently in a few different fashions depending on which play style you prefer. Either way, it’s all about making the most Gil in the shortest amount of time. The most effective way to make a lot of Gil is done at max level, so you’ll have access to the highest class skills and can farm lower level areas with ease.
Grinding Gil early on is rather difficult. Most methods like Crafting, Questing, and Level grinding can’t necessarily be learned until you’ve completed the “Level 10 Quest” for your Battle Class. Once you’ve gotten that out of the way, you’ll be able to learn crafting and gathering classes. If you really want to take farming seriously, we advise you to take at least one gathering class of either alchemy or culinary due to the fact that all of the products under these professions are and will always be greatly-needed and sought-after by other players. Also, you should pay very close attention to quest rewards if you’re already well-geared, take the monetary bonus instead of the gear since low-level gear can easily be replaced. If, for instance, the quest has a higher gear than what you have, simply don the new gear and sell off your old gear in the marketplace.
Crafting
Crafting is a great way to farm Gil up to level 30, though it still can be utilized as an additional method of farming, there are some other tricks available to you once you go beyond level 30.
