Method 1: Using CMD to Reset DNS
- First, open the Command Prompt (CMD) by pressing the Winkey and search for it by typing “cmd”. Right-click the command prompt application from the results and press “Run As Administrator”
- Type the command below on the cmd window once you are in.
netsh winsock reset
- Restart the PC now and check whether the error is fixed or not. If it is still there, proceed to our next method down below.
Method 2: Defaulting the Settings on Chrome
- This step is very easy and it simply resets your Chrome settings to default which might fix the problem.
- Just type the URL “chrome://flags/” in the address bar of your Chrome and press Enter.
- Click the Reset all to default button on the right as soon as you enter the page.
- Now see if the problem is solved. If not, get to the next method and try it.
Method 3: Assign the DNS Server Manually
- Here, you have to go to Network and Sharing Centre in Control Panel. You can easily go there by right-clicking on the network icon in the bottom right corner of the taskbar and pressing “Open Network and Sharing Centre”.
- Open the Local Area Connection option and press its “Properties” in the dialog box.
- A popup will show up where it says “Internet Protocol 4”. Click the properties option there once again.
- Select the “Use The Following DNS Server Addresses” option and type the following in the “Preferred DNS Server” box.
- Preferred DNS Sever: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
- You can also use OpenDNS and enter the following values there.
- Preferred DNS Sever: 208.67.222.222
- Alternate DNS Server: 208.67.220.220
- Then press Validate settings upon exit checkbox before pressing OK.

If the above methods didn’t work for you can try the following things to fix the error. These are very small things that may not have that big of an impact like the above methods.
- Disabling Antivirus/Firewall: Try disabling your Antivirus software and also the built-in Windows Firewall feature in the Control Panel and then try to browse the pages. See if the error is fixed or not.
- Uninstall Website Filtering Software: There are some programs that filters which website you should enter and not. They might be the reason behind this. So find them and try after uninstalling those software programs.
- Network Driver Issues: An outdated version of your network driver or a corrupted driver may also have caused this issue. So check that and have your driver software updated.
