Microsoft launched mixed-reality headset and controllers for $399. Windows Mixed Reality is Microsoft’s platform that combines Augmented reality and Virtual reality. It will allow developers to create mixed reality content which will include everyday apps, games and much more stuff.
There are so many VR and AR headsets like HTC Vive, Oculus rift, Microsoft HoloLens but to get maximum benefit from this kind of products one needs a lot of computing power, needs many sensors and needs to install camera as well.
However, Microsoft’s combo of mixed-reality headset and controllers addresses som of the issues. Microsoft said that the combination of both products will have its own set of motion controllers which will work with built-in sensors inside the headset.
Microsoft announced that they will be selling developer kits which will be made available via their hardware manufacturing partners. The kits will be available by Acer and HP in the United Stated and in Canada as well. Acer will be offering the kit for $299 and HP will be offering a kit for $329. Acer will be offering a bundle with the dev kit and the controllers for $399 in near future.
It is expected that kits from both the brands will be having same features and specifications, still, HP is asking for much more amount than Acer. Which makes clear that HP has significant profit margin over Acer. Pre-order starts from today in the mentioned countries. Microsoft will start delivering products later this month.
