Qualcomm announced faster Quick Charge 4+. When Quick Charge 4 was announced, it promised to faster charge which charged a device from 0 percent to 50 percent in just 15 minutes.
Now, Qualcomm has announced an improvement over the previous version of Quick Charge 4. Quick Charge 4+ is an update to the previous standard since both can be used on the same System-on-a-chip.
Qualcomm claims that devices having Quick Charge 4+ will charge 15% faster and 30% more efficiently compared to the previous version of QC. The company also claims that process of charging will be up to 3 degrees Celsius cooler.
They have announced the following features in the latest version of Quick Charge.
Dual Charge: Dual Charge feature includes one more power management integrated circuit in the device. Which provides lower thermals and reduces the required charge time.
Intelligent Thermal Balancing: This feature more enhances the above feature; Dual Charge. Intelligent Thermal Balancing feature is designed to transfer current via the coolest path, which reduces the temperature while charging and eliminates the hot spots and further optimizes delivery of current.
Advanced Safety Features: Quick Charge 4+ does not just include built-in safety features. But, it goes one more step ahead and this feature is designed to monitor temperature levels. This extra layer of protection protects the device from overheating and short-circuit or any kind of damage to the device hardware.
Quick Charge 4+ is not just a software update, but it is hardware upgrade which requires manufacturers to use Quick Charge 4+ while buying SoC from Qualcomm and they must enable the support for Quick Charge 4+ in their devices to get all the above-mentioned features.
