Now finally you are bored with your YouTube account and want no more videos of your activities to remain on the self-broadcasting platform. So you might be thinking of deleting your account instead of deleting dozens and tons of the videos. However, while trying to find out how to do so, you may not get an account deletion option in plain sight. Below are some useful tips how to successful get yourself out of the YouTube channel maker and retaining your Google account obviously:
Access YouTube Settings
Open YouTube.com and sing into it with your account details. Click your user account icon and thereafter click on Settings.
If you are on your mobile device, open the YouTube app and thereafter tap on your user account icon. Next, tap on downward arrow seen beside your name and photo, and you will see here all of your YouTube accounts. You need to tap the gear icon here.
Note that tapping Settings here will not take you to your account settings, but only to app/viewing settings.
Access Google Account Settings
As YouTube is a product of Google, its account setting is done from Google account page. From you desktop click on View or change your account settings. Here will find a note of getting redirected to the Google account page.
In case you are on your mobile device, tap the account you want to delete after tapping gear icon. This too will lead you to Google account page.
Access Account Preferences
Click on Delete your account or services if you are using the web version or tap on Account preferences if you are proceeding on YouTube app.
Click To Delete
From your desktop click on Delete products. The platform will ask you to sign in again to your account as a verification measure here.
If you are using the app version you need to click on Delete Google services following previous step. Here too you need to sign in again to verify yourself.
Click Trashcan Icon
In case you want to keep a copy of your videos offline you can click on the optional button of Download Data. You need to select list of Google services you have for it along with the file type as well as delivery method. It is recommended to save the data as you will lose everything with permanent deleting of the account.
On your mobile device tap on the trashcan icon. Sign in again to verify here.
Confirm Permanent Delete
Click on I want to permanently delete my content. In case you change mind and don’t want to delete forever, you get another option here to click on I want to hide my channel. This will make your content and activity private.
If not, continue will deleting process by the boxes to confirm and clicking Delete My Content. After this process you can never undone it.
Delete Associated Account (Optional)
Click on Settings and thereafter View or change your account settings. Here, you need to click on Delete your account or services under Account preferences. Next, click on Delete Account and data and thereafter sign into it to verify yourself. Read the content to know what will be deleted.
