Now the company has plans to release their next device in the Mi Mix lineup, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Mi Mix 2 will feature the same design concept of very minimalistic bezel on three sides of the phone. Reports say that the phone will be out in the second half of this year near September or October.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 release in second half of 2017?
What’s interesting is according to a Chinese analyst, Xiaomi will use an In-display fingerprint sensor in this phone. This means you can just place your finger on the display of your phone and it lets you in authorising your fingerprint! This sure is a good news and will be great if its true.
A Chinese company named Goodix showcased this technology in MWC 2017 last month. They suggested that Apple would use this tech in the iPhone 8. But now, Xiaomi seem to have overtaken Apple here.
The designing of Mi Mix 2 is done by French designer Philip Starck who also designed the first phone. The main highlight apart from the bezel-less design now is the new fingerprint scanner in the display thing. The technology Other than these two, Xiaomi is set to offer a lot more innovative features in the Mi Mix according to the industry analyst, Pan Jiutang.
The phone will have a screen-to-body ratio greater than 91.3% which is just mindblowing to hear. Right now, the best screen-to-body ratio offered by a smartphone is 78.37% by LG G6. So we have to just wait to see how good the Mi Mix 2 will look and feel like at that ratio.
More innovative features
Other rumoured features include dual cameras, telescopic selfie camera with flash and 2K screen resolution. Dual camera trend has been brought to the market from last year. The Xiaomi Mi Mix was criticised for the lack of selfie camera and the telescopic selfie camera might be the answer for all that from Xiaomi. The front camera comes out of the top of the phone. How cool does that sound?
If Xiaomi is able to deliver this device with the in-display fingerprint sensor, it would be the first brand to do so as Apple cannot wait until the sensor is ready for its iPhone 8 and Samsung had planned iris sensor authentication for their Galaxy S8. Both these smartphones will be released sooner than the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
The company CEO said that the production of Xiaomi Mi Mix will be stopped for making Mi Mix 2 and assured that there will be wider availability of the upcoming Mi Mix 2.
